The Story of Harrop Park
Harrop Park was founded in the early 1990s through a collaboration between local English teacher Kevin Brown and Sandhills rancher John McFadden. Named after John Harrop, a pioneer homesteader who settled here under the Kincaid Act in the early 1900s, the park was created as a place for reflection, education, and appreciation of the land.
Since its dedication in 1994, the park has been maintained by community volunteers and continues to welcome visitors from across the country and around the world.
